About Therapy

Perhaps you're down or anxious, or panicky, feeling trapped or distressed. Maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you want to lead. Maybe you're having intense conflict with your family, or a distant relationship with them is getting you down. Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. Therapy is a process of insight building, growth, and self-discovery. In my sessions I promote emotional intelligence/emotional regulation, deeper emotional intimacy with others, and broadening one's understanding of their behaviours or reactions (yes, we don't always know why we do some things we do). I have both the professional and life experience to help you get back on track.

Therapy can be many things to many people. It might include: processing and limiting the negative effects of trauma one has experienced; problem solving dilemmas one is facing in life; learning ways to have more closeness, love, and fulfillment in one's relationships; learning to set boundaries or to say no to others; having one's perspectives validated or challenged; sharing one's story and feeling empathized with; developing insights about yourself, including bringing things to your conscious awareness of which you may have been previously unaware; developing a deeper sense of what makes you "tick," including your belief systems and deepest values; setting personal goals and receiving support to see them through; seeking and receiving meaningful feedback; learning more kindness and patience for yourself; and seeking and developing tools and understanding to relate to the emotional, behavioural, or cognitive aspects of yourself and others.

Two Dried Leaves

“What is success?
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
